New Year’s Resolutions – Spot-On Betting

It’s the start of a New Year – a great chance to reevaluate where you’re at and how you bet. Betting should be fun and, if you do it right, you can reap the benefits. But as with most things in life, including sport, planning, strategy and research is key. Just remember to think ahead and keep relaxed.

Here’s our list of tips for doing it right in 2016.

1. Watch out for Boredom Betting

Get home from work and want to unwind? You grab a few beers, sit down on the couch and pull out your phone. The easy thing to do is go chasing a few quid on the most recent betting app you installed. We all love betting, but unless this is just a wind down with a few small bets, don’t fall victim to the lazy idea of ‘I’ll throw some money in here.’ Without thinking too much about it, you could lose out a lot and the fun falls away.

2. Enjoy it

That said, betting really is about having fun, so as long as you’re aware of the sort of risks like that above, remember to relax and enjoy what you’re doing. There’s little to compare to that rush of adrenaline when you play that bet that few others thought of and you know you’re onto a winner.

3. Know what you’re doing

We don’t mean only bet if you’re guaranteed a win because, well, it just won’t happen. But know what your strengths are and focus on them. The occasional flutter on that wildcard horse can be fun, but if you’re a football fanatic and know nothing about dogs, don’t spend your budget at the races – plan for Saturday’s 3pm kick-offs!

4. Keep your bills in order

Admittedly, this is something not all of us are good at, but a great tip to really enjoy your betting is to separate your bank accounts. That way, you know where your money is and where it’s going. You don’t run the risk of your better half telling you that all the grocery money’s gone and you’re eating two-minute noodles for a month (not that those Chicken packets aren’t amazing).

5. Utilise those ‘Free Bet’ promotions

You’re not contracted to one agency. No one will be checking your phone and calling the cops if your home screen has seven different betting apps on it. So make the most of some amazing offers out there by opening accounts with numerous companies when that ‘Money Back’ or ‘£20 Free on Sign Up’ ad appears.
