Arsenal can dwell on their abject defending and Arsene Wenger’s nonsensical starting eleven, or they enjoy the fact they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with an excellent attacking show and some excellent character – not something we always attribute to this Gunners outfit.
Stoke created precious little in their 0-1 defeat at Everton – just two shots from inside the Toffees’ penalty area in fact, and if they continue to put in toothless displays like that it won’t be long before the knives are out for Mark Hughes and his team.
Per Mertesacker will return for Arsenal, easing their defensive problems somewhat, and the knowledge that four of their last five encounters with Stoke have ended 3-0, 2-0, 3-1 and 4-1 will fill them with confidence.
