Premier League Betting Preview 1 & 2 May

Sunday the 1st of May could see the biggest shock in the history of the Premier League, as Leicester City have the opportunity to win the title.  Not only that but Claudio Ranieri’s team have the chance to do it at the home of one of the most successful teams in the English game, Manchester United.

Going into the weekend action, Leicester are priced at 1/20 with SkyBet to win the Premier League this season and with just 3 games left, it seems unlikely they are going to slip-up now.  However, this match is certainly the biggest test of the games Leicester have remaining and there is also a tricky looking match at Stamford Bridge to contend with, on the final day.  That being said, Leicester will strongly believe they can take maximum points from Old Trafford, to win the title in style and why not?

Leicester are undefeated in their last 9 Premier League matches, winning 7 and drawing 2, which shows they are in great form.  Despite the absence of Jamie Vardy against Swansea last weekend, they netted 4 goals, so although they will be without the England striker again this week, they have shown they can cope.  The Foxes held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture and are 3/1 with BetVictor to go one better this time and claim all 3 points.

Despite Leicester’s good form and record against the top teams, Louis van Gaal will have other ideas.  Manchester United are still in with a chance of qualifying for the Champions League and have won their last 4 games in all competitions.  The Red Devils have proven to be a team who are difficult to break down in recent home Premier League games and have not conceded a goal in their last 4 league matches at the Theatre of Dreams.  If Manchester United are to put Leicester’s champagne on ice, it’s unlikely to be by anything more than a 1 goal margin and SkyBet offer 11/4 for Manchester United to win by 1 goal.  Additionally, the 1-0 win for Manchester United can be backed at 13/2 with Bet365.

Whichever way this match goes, it’s going to be an exciting afternoon and Tottenham Hotspur will be looking on, in the hope Manchester United get the win.  If they do, Spurs will have a chance to close the gap at the top of the Premier League table to 4 points, with 2 games left to play.

However, they have face a difficult looking match against Chelsea, at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.  Guus Hiddink’s team recovered from a couple of poor results to defeat Bournemouth 4-1 last time out and on their day, are still capable of beating anyone.  Tottenham have struggled at the home of their London rivals in the past, with an away win proving to be rare.  This makes the odds of 15/8 for a home win, very tempting.  If Spurs are to take something from the game, history suggests it will be nothing more than a point and the draw is on offer at 13/5 with BetFred.

Spurs have managed to find the back of the net in all but 2 of their away Premier League games this season and Chelsea have conceded 15 goals in their previous 8 home league games, with at least 1 in each of them.  Furthermore, Chelsea have drawn 6 of their last 8 home league matches.  Therefore, a scoring draw is very much in prospect and the draw, with both teams to score is 7/2 with BetVictor.

Depending on the result in the game between Manchester United and Leicester City, this match could have a lot riding on it.  Whatever happens, it looks set to feature plenty of goal mouth action.
